DOCUMENTARY.

As a crew, we are heavily interested in people. People are the reason that we have made it this far, and their stories are what keeps us going.

Beyond Diagnosis.

This documentary series aims to give people the opportunity to retrace their friends and families footsteps, and seeks to uncover and explore people’s stories beyond diagnosis. We kick off the series with George’s journey as he prepares to tackle the 2,027km journey his mum completed over 30 years ago, named The Ascent.

Our Plan.

We want to use this documentary to help connect people with their loved ones. We hope to give people the ability to test themselves both emotionally and physically, and inspire people to live life to the full.

The Ascent.

Up until now, The Ascent has been working in the background… Training, shooting interviews and gathering information for the adventure ahead of us.

We are now opening it up to the world, and we need your help.

About The Film.

An exciting, new documentary series following George 2,027km across Europe as he follows in his mum’s footsteps and seeks to uncover and reconnect with who she was beyond diagnosis.

Over 30 years ago, Rachael cycled 2027km from the UK to Barcelona... Now, four years after her passing from bowel cancer, her son, George, attempts to explore Rachael’s story as he repeats the journey himself.

The journey will be extremely demanding both physically and mentally. Combating the Spanish summer heat, the extreme terrain of the Pyrenees, and the mental endurance of an emotional journey spanning across three countries... This won’t be easy.

Rachael’s story has been lost throughout the years, with only parts of the journey being recollected and a lot to uncover along the way.

Peoples’ lives are often defined by their cancer diagnosis, and we hope to look beyond that by exploring who Rachael really was with George retracing her journey.

This isn’t a film about a cyclist or an athlete, but rather a son honouring his mother.
